On October 5 and 6, 2026, the X All-Russian Scientific Conference with international participation "Theology in the scientific and educational space: results of the decade and prospects for development" was held in Moscow. The forum venues were the Russian State University named after A. I. Kosygin and the Orthodox St. Tikhon University for the Humanities.
The conference brought together about 200 participants from secular and theological universities, including representatives of the Presidential Academy. The participants summed up the development of theology over the past ten years and discussed its place in higher education, the training of specialists, the development of scientific research and the preservation of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.
Bishop Kirill, President of the Scientific and Educational Theological Association, presented proposals for the inclusion of a discipline with a religious and ideological component in the new model of higher education. He also reported on the work on the creation of an Association of Teachers of theology and Religious Studies.
Separate sessions were devoted to Patriarch Kirill's contribution to the development of theological education and the upcoming 650th anniversary of the Battle of Kulikovo. Following the results of the conference, it was decided to prepare a general memorandum.
