On the day of the repose of St. Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh, the Wonderworker, on October 8, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Constantine of Cairo and North Africa, led the patronal celebrations at the parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Cairo.
His Eminence was co-served by the vicar of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, the dean of the district and rector of the parish, Bishop Euphimius of Lukhovitsky, acting rector of the parish of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women in Hurghada, Priest Dimitri Gurov, rector of the Church of All Saints who Shone Forth in the Land of Egypt, Hieromonk Mitrofan (Soldatenko), as well as clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church who make pilgrimages to the holy places of Egypt.
At the end of the Liturgy, the glorification of St. Sergius and the procession were celebrated. At the end of the service, Bishop Euthymius greeted the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa.
Metropolitan Konstantin replied and congratulated all those gathered on the holiday. Vladyka presented Bishop Euthymius with a cross and a panagia, and the parish with altar cloths and a set of veils. Vladyka Konstantin also presented letters of thanks to the parishioners of St. Sergius Church who had worked hard.
On the previous evening, Metropolitan Konstantin led an all-night vigil co-served by Bishop Euthymius of Lukhovitsky, Priest Dimitriy Gurov and Hieromonk Mitrofan (Soldatenko). During the divine service, the icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh, presented to the parish by a benefactor from Russia, was consecrated.
