The Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service has allocated funds to support the Tver Home for Mothers, a crisis center in Tver. The shelter was created at the city church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Chalice". The project became one of the winners of the second Church Family Projects competition, which was held by the Synodal Department for Charity from April 16 to May 3, 2026.
The center was opened in 2023, during the interregional conference on church social service in the Central Federal District. During this time, 49 women and 77 children were able to receive help at the shelter.
As part of the second Family Project competition in 2026, the Synodal Charity Department allocated 500,000 rubles to support the project. The funds were used to pay for specialists, purchase personal hygiene products and household chemicals, as well as bags to the hospital.
According to Oksana Azizova, director of the Tver Home for Mothers, the main goal of the project is not only to provide a roof over her head, but also to give a woman the opportunity to start a new life. "We hold master classes for women so that everyone can try themselves in various types of creativity and needlework, then choose what they like, complete training and start providing for themselves,— Oksana Azizova said. — In the Cabin, they take turns cooking, cleaning, and on duty according to the schedule. There is a small backyard that we all take care of together. Women learn not only household skills, but also gain spiritual support that helps them get through the most difficult trials."
Today, 87 crisis centers for women in difficult situations have been opened in the Russian Orthodox Church. There are also 273 humanitarian aid centers. Those in need, regardless of nationality and religion, receive food, household items, and clothing for free.
