The service took place at the chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Sign" and the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky, a monument to the heroes of Plevna in Ilyinsky Park in Moscow.
His Grace was co-served by: Archpriest Andrey Rechitsky, dean of the Iversky District of the Moscow (City) Diocese; Priest Pavel Kaleda, rector of the chapel; Archpriest John Kaleda, rector of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity on Gryazekh, at the Pokrovsky Gate, Moscow; clerics of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kadashi, Moscow; and the metropolitan clergy.
As part of the commemorative event, military honors were paid: a guard of honor was held, a wreath and flowers were laid.
At the end of the service, Vladyka Seraphim addressed the audience. Then there were performances by invited guests. A special part of the celebrations was the presentation of a copy of the Samara banner, once embroidered by the nuns of the Samara Iversky Monastery. This banner, donated by the residents of Samara to the Bulgarian militia in 1877, has become one of the symbols of the Bulgarian armed forces.
The event ended with a memorable photographing of the participants.
