On July 17, 2026, on the day of commemoration of the Holy Royal Passion-bearers, Bogoroditsky Zhitenny Convent celebrates the day of the monastery's rebirth. Exactly 24 years ago, on this day, the monastery was reopened after many years of ruin and desolation.
The Royal Passion-bearers became the patron saints of the revived monastery: Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra, Tsarevich Alexy and Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia, glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church as saints in 2000.
On this memorable day, for the past ten years, starting in 2016, sisters, pupils of the monastery and pilgrims have been making a procession along the waters of Lake Seliger to the monastery compound in the name of the Royal Passion-Bearers.
The route with a total length of about 70 km started from the central gates of the Bogoroditsky Zhitennoye Convent on the Zhitnoye Peninsula in Ostashkov.
The clergy, sisters, pupils of the monastery, guests and pilgrims went aboard the ship to the northern shore of Seliger to the village of Zadubye.
During the voyage, the clergy of the monastery, Priest Dmitry Krivosheev and priest Georgy Fatkullin, performed a prayer service on the ship with the reading of the akathist to the saints.
Upon arrival on land, the path of the worshippers continued along the shore of Lake Seliger from the village of Zadubye to the village of Zapolek in the Ostashkovsky district.
Here, on the territory of the monastery compound, in a wooden church in the name of the Royal Passion-Bearers, priest Nikolai Kalush celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the open air, a small temple became an altar.
Many participants in the prayer procession took communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
At the end of the divine service, glorification was performed before the image of the Royal Passion-Bearers.
In the evening, the procession returned by the same route to the walls of the Bogoroditsky Monastery of Life.
