On the feast of the appearance of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos in the city of Kazan (1579), on July 21, 2026, during His Primatial visit to the Metropolitanate of Tatarstan, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia performed the rite of the great consecration of the church in honor of the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, called "Tula" (Church of St. Nicholas of Tula), Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery and the Divine the Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.
On this festive day, numerous Kazan residents and pilgrims gathered on the square near the church in the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery to participate in the Patriarchal Divine Service. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church blessed the faithful, and then proceeded to the temple.

Many believers who did not get into the crowded church prayed during the service, watching the broadcast on a large screen installed on the monastery square.
At the small entrance, His Holiness presented liturgical and hierarchical awards.
At the end of the Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill celebrated the feast.
Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan, on behalf of the bishops, clergy and faithful of the Tatarstan Metropolia, greeted His Holiness and presented His Holiness with a copy of the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, called "Tula."
Then His Holiness the Patriarch was greeted by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, R.N. Minnikhanov.
The Primate of the Russian Church addressed the faithful with a Primatial address. 
As a gift to the community of the newly consecrated church, His Holiness gave an icon of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The Primate gave the Holy Gospels to the churches of the Kazan Diocese, and icons of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky with the Patriarchal blessing to all the inhabitants of the Kazan Monastery of the Mother of God.
His Holiness presented the head of the Tatarstan Metropolitanate, Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan, with a commemorative cross and panagia.
Then the presentation of church orders took place.
Due to his diligent archpastoral labors, Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan was awarded the Order of Prince Alexander Nevsky, II degree.
All participants of the service were presented with icons depicting St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with the Patriarchal blessing.
At the end of the Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the bishops who participated in the service laid flowers at the grave of Metropolitan Theophan (Ashurkov; May 21, 1947 — November 20, 2020), which is located behind the altar of the Kazan Cathedral, and sang "Eternal Memory" to the ever-memorable archpastor.
