The Ecumenical Patriarchate received permission from Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Sumela Monastery on August 15.
The Turkish authorities gave oral consent to the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Monday evening, followed by written permission for the Ecumenical Patriarch to be in Trabzon on August 15 and celebrate the Divine Liturgy.
Recall that a few days ago, the Turkish authorities decided not to allow the Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at the Sumela Monastery on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
According to the Ecumenical Patriarchate announced earlier, this year there will be no Divine Liturgy on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15) in the historical monastery of Panagia Sumela, "because the necessary permission" was not given by "competent state authorities".
The Ecumenical Patriarchate also published a corresponding announcement on the permission to celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Sumela Monastery: "We are pleased to announce that after a new decision taken by the Turkish authorities, we have received permission to celebrate the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15) at the Sumela Monastery."
