Clergy from several canonical Orthodox Churches in Canada gathered in Windsor, Ontario, for a joint service commemorating St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco, the heavenly patron of the Windsor–Essex Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Cathedral of St. George the Great Martyr and St. Andrew Șaguna and was led by Bishop Ioan Casian of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada. Concelebrating were clergy from the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate's Greek Orthodox parishes, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Macedonian Orthodox Church, and the Orthodox Church in America, according to the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada's social media accounts.

Following the service, Bishop Ioan spoke about the life and missionary work of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco, emphasizing that the saint's example remains especially relevant to Orthodox mission in contemporary North American society.

Archpriest Corneliu Andrașco, president of the Windsor–Essex Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood, thanked the bishop and the participating clergy for the shared celebration, describing it as a visible expression of unity among Orthodox Christians from different jurisdictions. He noted that the service marked the brotherhood's first formal celebration of its patron saint since St. John was chosen as its heavenly protector in 2025.

The Windsor–Essex Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood brings together priests serving in the region from various canonical Orthodox Churches. The organization was established to strengthen fellowship, mutual support, and cooperation among parishes of different jurisdictions through joint worship services, pastoral meetings, and missionary initiatives.

St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco (1896–1966) is one of the most widely venerated Orthodox saints of the 20th century. After serving in Shanghai and Western Europe, he became head of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia's Diocese of Western America. During his ministry in North America, he cared for Orthodox faithful from diverse ethnic backgrounds, supported the establishment of new parishes and missions, helped oversee the completion of the Orthodox cathedral in San Francisco, and became known for his ascetic life and charitable work. He is widely honored today as one of the foremost Orthodox missionaries in North America.
