A working meeting of the clergy in charge of military units was held at the military church in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Fyodor Tyron in Sevastopol.

Before the meeting, a thanksgiving prayer service was held with special petitions and prayers for the soldiers and for the Fatherland.

At the meeting, he discussed various issues related to the care of soldiers and pastoral work on the territory of the Crimean peninsula and the area of the special military operation.

On behalf of the military clergy of the Simferopol and Crimean dioceses, Archpriest Vasily Gumarov was congratulated on a high church award - a decorated cross, which was presented on the memorial day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul by the ruling bishop, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea at the Vladimir Cathedral in Chersonesos, Sevastopol.

The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
