The monastery houses a school and an orphanage for orphaned girls.
Metropolitan Anthony was greeted by the abbess and sisters of the monastery, as well as the numerous children of the orphanage, who are under the care of the monastery. The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church from the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church was accompanied by Archbishop Abuna Filipos of Southern Omo.
