On the evening of June 5, 2026, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia arrived in Kaliningrad.
After his election to the Patriarchal Throne, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill remained the ruling bishop of the Kaliningrad Diocese. In 2016, the Kaliningrad Archdiocese was established within the Kaliningrad region. The Holy Synod took note of and approved the Kaliningrad residents' request to leave His Holiness the Patriarch in charge of the Kaliningrad Archdiocese as its head.
The delegation accompanying the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church on the trip includes: Metropolitan Grigory of Voskresensky, Managing Director of the Moscow Patriarchate; Bishop Alexy of Ramenskoye, Personal Secretary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill; Archpriest Andrey Bondarenko, head of the Patriarchal Protocol Service; N.I. Derzhavin, Deputy head of the Press Service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
At the Khrabrovo airport in Kaliningrad, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill was met by: Patriarchal Vicar of the Kaliningrad Metropolitanate, Metropolitan Seraphim of the Baltic and Svetlogorsk; Bishop Nikolai of Chernyakhovsky and Slavsky; Deputy Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Chief of Staff of the Kaliningrad Region Government N.V. Shimchenok; member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, former Mayor of Kaliningrad A.G. Yaroshuk.
During the visit, His Holiness will hold a meeting of the clergy of the Kaliningrad Archdiocese, perform divine services at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Kaliningrad and hold a meeting with the leadership of the region.
