Natalia Langammer

I recently asked a hairstylist how to make my hair grow healthier. Instead of recommending masks or shampoos, she surprised me with an unexpected answer:

"Love your hair! Tell it that it’s beautiful. Have you ever noticed how a child stops crying when their mother kisses a bruised knee? Love heals."

That conversation made me think deeply. Love is not just a psychological comfort; it is a real, transformative force. The world was created by God, and God is love. He formed the universe with love, and thus, love is the essence that sustains and restores all things.

In a way, love is like a healing substance—filling in cracks, mending brokenness. It is the balm that soothes wounds, both physical and emotional.

We see this principle everywhere. Children deprived of love in early life often struggle deeply. In Nazi Germany, cruel experiments were conducted where infants were raised without maternal affection. The result? An alarmingly high percentage of these children developed severe psychological disorders. Love is not a luxury—it is a necessity, an essential element of human well-being.

From the moment of birth, we are meant to be surrounded by love. A child is conceived by two people, not one, because love is meant to envelop and shape a life from its very beginning. Perhaps this is why God designed the family in the image of the Holy Trinity—a community of love, where relationships are not solitary but interconnected. A child first learns love from a mother and father, just as humanity learns love from God.

A simple embrace from a loved one can ease exhaustion, sorrow, and fear. This is not poetic exaggeration but a fundamental truth. Love restores. Love is life-giving.

Why had I never realized this before? Love is not just an emotion—it is the very substance of our being. And in giving love to one another, we are, in essence, sharing life itself.

Lord, this mystery is beyond comprehension, yet it is breathtakingly real. Glory to You!
