On July 20-21, 2026, celebrations will be held in the Tatarstan Metropolis on the occasion of the 447th anniversary of the appearance of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos in the city of Kazan.
Festive divine services will be held in the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery, founded on the site of the shrine.
On the evening of July 20, on the eve of the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, a solemn all-night vigil with the singing of the akathist to the Queen of Heaven will take place in the Kazan Cathedral. The service starts at 17:00.
On the morning of July 21, the day of the finding of the shrine, a traditional citywide procession with the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God will take place from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kremlin to the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery. The prayer procession starts at 7:30 a.m.
After the arrival of the procession to the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery, the venerated Kazan image of the Queen of Heaven will be brought to the restored church in honor of the Tula image of St. Nicholas. It was this temple that was the first to receive the miraculous icon after it was acquired in 1579.
Immediately after the offering of the shrine, the great consecration of the temple in honor of the Tula image of St. Nicholas will begin. Then the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the newly consecrated church. The service starts at 10.00.
A host of archpastors of the Russian Church will take part in the upcoming celebrations. We invite residents of the Republic of Tatarstan and guests of the region to glorify the Queen of Heaven and to pray together at the place of the appearance of Her miraculous icon.
