The Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker has been opened on the territory of the Meshchersky National Park. The temple is located in the former village of Yalmont, Klepikov district.
A message about the event was posted in the park's group on the VK social network. The author of the post, Larisa Polshchikova, wrote: "I happened to see these places in July this summer. The road to the temple is unpaved. After the rain, to drive on such a road, the driver needs to be masterfully skilled. And the dilapidated temple is already visible from afar. The place where the stone church was built in 1858 is absolutely heavenly in its beauty. A temple was built between the lakes Svyatoe and Dubovoye, next to the channel of the Pry River into Lake Shagara. Nearby villages – Droshino – on the opposite shore of Lake Svyatoe, Efremovo, Podsvyatye – on the shore of Dubovoye. Restoration work was in full swing in July. Construction workers had been restoring the temple for several years and were ready to show their work. As it seemed to me then, the renovated temple will not be restored in its original form. But, nevertheless, it is amazing that a temple has been restored and opened in the distant Meshchersk forests, and the forest road will lead you back to the church, which has found a new life."

From the comments:
"What great news! We were there a couple of years ago, and it was very sad to see an abandoned temple with such wonderful frescoes. Now there will be a reason to visit this place again.";
".. the frescoes have been wonderfully preserved!"…

The first mentions in the scribal books of the Vladimir district about the churchyard in Yalmanskaya kromina with two wooden churches of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Holy Martyr Paraskeva Pyatnitsa date back to 1637-1648. In the XVIII century, St. Nicholas Church mentions the Ilyinsky chapel. In 1754, St. Nicholas Church burned down, and in 1756, the church of St. Nicholas with the Ilyinsky chapel was rebuilt and consecrated. In 1858-1862, a new wooden church was built in honor of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary with the chapel of John the Baptist. In 1863, the new church was consecrated. According to the data of 1890, the parish, in addition to the village, included the villages: Knyazevo, Voropino, Vysokovo, Vysokorevo, Kazykino, Dorofeevo, Fileleevo, Podsvyatye, Gorbushino, Filisovo, Khanino, Ivanovskaya, Yevlevo, Tyurvishchi and Semenovskaya. In the late XIX — early XX, the stone church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was rebuilt with chapels of Ilyinsky, Bogoroditserozhdestvensky, Cathedral of the Forerunner and Epiphany. It was closed no later than the 1930s.
