On Sunday, hundreds of faithful from the Romanian Orthodox Church gathered in Târgoviște to celebrate the consecration of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Life-Giving Spring," reports Basilica.ro. The event was led by Archbishop Nifon of Târgoviște, who performed the consecration ceremony followed by a festive prayer service in the square in front of the church.

In his address following the liturgy, Archbishop Nifon congratulated the congregation and emphasized that the church is a source of divine grace, sanctifying both individuals and society. He highlighted the importance of Christian teachings, which form the foundation of Romanian and European civilization, fostering the promotion of goodness and beauty in the world.

The Archbishop also pointed out the special significance of this church, describing it as "a true gem of ecclesiastical art." The church in Târgoviște is particularly notable for its exterior frescoes. Built between 1832 and 1833, the church recently underwent restoration, which included both the interior and exterior frescoes.

Churches with exterior frescoes are a rare feature of Romanian architecture, with the most famous examples dating back to the 15th century. These unique structures are carefully preserved and restored; last year, for example, a concrete wall began to be constructed around the Church of St. George in Voroneț to protect its distinctive frescoes.
