In 1903, a church was built at the Korenevo station in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. The temple was closed in the 1920s and looted. The last rector was the priest Viktor Karakulin. Before the occupation by German troops, an elementary school was located in the temple building. On September 6, 1943, during the retreat, the temple building was mined and blown up by order of the German command. The Soviet government allowed Korenevo residents to disassemble bricks and building materials for their needs. Only the building of the former psalmist's house (also built in 1903) has survived. After the war, the House of Pioneers was located in this house, and later a music school. Since 1989, this house has been converted into a temple and since that time divine services have been held here. Private residential buildings are now located on the site of the blown-up temple. On October 14, 2003, on the Patronal Feast of the Intercession of the Mother of God, Metropolitan Juvenal of Kursk and Rila consecrated the site for the construction of a new church at the intersection of the streets: St. Peter the Great. Seraphim of Sarov (formerly Stroitelei) and 70 years of October.

On September 8, 2005, by the grace of God, with the financial support of Russian Railways and willing donors, the foundation stone was laid and construction of a new church began.

The construction lasted almost four years. On May 31, 2009, His Eminences Archbishop Herman of Kursk and Rila and Archbishop John of Belgorod and Starooskolsky, the new Intercession Church was consecrated and the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in it. All services are now held in a new, well-maintained church.
