His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia blessed the establishment of the bell Art Museum in the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra. It will be placed on the ground floor of the bell tower, where a temporary exhibition dedicated to the bell heritage of the monastery is currently taking place.
According to the creators, the museum will introduce visitors to the centuries-old history of bell ringing in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, and reveal its liturgical and cultural significance. Guests will find answers to questions about how the new bells are cast and what the old, now lost samples that once sounded in the monastery looked like. At the museum belfry, they will be shown various ringing techniques and techniques, and will be told about the famous bell ringers of the Lavra and its benefactors.
Among the exhibits are ancient bells that survived many tragic episodes of Russian history, fragments of bells that suffered at the hands of the godless Soviet government, in particular, a fragment of the Tsar Bell that was dropped from the bell tower, and much more. The main exhibit of the museum will be the current bell tower of the monastery itself. Tours to it will begin with an inspection of the exposition.
The development of the museum's design project is already underway, and specialists from the Sergiev Posad Museum-Reserve have been involved in the work.
