On September 26, with the blessing of the dean of the Saki church district, Archpriest John Pristinsky, the cleric of St. Elijah's Church in Saki, Priest Alexy Pushin, visited military personnel to communicate with them on spiritual topics.

The priest had a conversation with him about the dangers of matting and the benefits of prayer. And also, on the eve of the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord, he told them about the great saving power of the Cross of Christ and the sign of the cross.
Prayer is our spiritual armor, strengthening the spirit and giving hope in difficult times. It is necessary not to give up prayer and always rely on God's help, and more often make the sign of the cross over yourself, turning to the Lord and your Guardian Angel.

The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
