On October 27, 2026, Bishop Joseph of Skadovsky and Alyoshka, together with the clergy of the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Metropolis, visited the parishes of the Holopristan deanery. The trip was made possible by a temporary lull in the fighting.
The participants assessed the condition of the affected temples and the possibilities of further assistance to local residents. In the village of Novaya Zburyevka, the archpastor visited the ancient Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the spring of this year, the building received serious damage: the domes, roof, facade and interior were damaged.
In the Bare Pier, Bishop Joseph visited the Church of the Holy Spirit, which was previously restored after the flood of 2023. According to the trip report, in early October, the temple completely burned down as a result of a drone attack. His Eminence also visited the Intercession Church in the village of Velikaya Kardashinka, which was being restored by specialists from the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission after the flood.
During the trip, the residents were given food packages and basic necessities. The head of the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Metropolis, Archpriest Dimitri Krotkov, noted that a few days ago access to these settlements was extremely dangerous. The temporary lull made it possible to deliver aid to people again.
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission and the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Metropolis have been helping the affected residents of the Kherson region since 2023. During this time, more than 200 humanitarian visits were carried out. There are two Mission assistance centers in the region.
