For the first time, large-scale gatherings of military priests took place at the Zapad group's rear training ground right in the zone of a special military operation. Priests from different regions of Russia, both Orthodox and Muslims, were trained in the same formation. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense in its Telegram channel.
During the training sessions, the clergy studied the basics of combat training: movement on the battlefield, communications, tactical medicine and psychological warfare.
These training camps allowed the spiritual mentors not only to gain practical skills, but also to better understand their role in the army team. On the front line, the word of a priest should become a real support for a soldier – in moments of despondency, in the face of danger, and in the most difficult moments of service.

“Not a Laurel Wreath, but a Thorny Crown.” On the 50th Anniversary of the Episcopal Consecration of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.
