On June 11, 2026, the memorial day of St. Luke of Crimea, a regular meeting of the Chechelovsky District Court of Dnipro was held in the case of the vicar of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, Metropolitan Arseny of Svyatogorsk.

On this day, the brothers of the Lavra and the sisters of the Lavra monasteries served a cathedral prayer service in front of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Svyatogorskaya".

At the hearing, the court considered the issue of further preventive measures for Vladyka Arseny, since the term of the previous measure is already ending.

The prosecutors applied for a two-month extension of the round-the-clock house arrest. In turn, the defense insisted on replacing round-the-clock house arrest with night arrest.

Metropolitan Arseny and his lawyers participated in the hearing via videoconference. Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Victoria Hryb also joined the meeting. Clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church came to the courtroom to support Vladyka.

One of the main arguments of the lawyers and Metropolitan Arseny in favor of a night arrest was that in order to restore his health after heart surgery, Vladyka needed to have greater freedom of movement than what is available in the case of a round-the-clock arrest. "In the recommendations given to me by the cardiac surgeons, it says that during the rehabilitation process I need to go outside for hiking. Of course, the house I'm staying in is bigger than a 2.5-by-5-meter cell in the pre-trial detention center, where I've been for almost two years and where 4-6 people were at the same time, but I don't have the opportunity to go out for any walks, my physical activity is limited. And the latter is necessary to restore health after surgery and imprisonment," said the bishop.

In addition, as the lawyers emphasized, Vladyka Arseniy has not recorded a single violation of the procedural obligations imposed on him. With this, the bishop confirmed that he was not going to evade the court or influence the witnesses.

In his statement, Bishop Arseny also, in particular, once again indicated that he did not admit his guilt. "Living for the sake of the flock and the people of Ukraine is my only "fault" before the people of Ukraine. But for some reason, the prosecutor's office does not take into account the 33 years of my priesthood, and at every court hearing, prosecutors make up some kind of accusations," the metropolitan said.

After listening to the prosecution and defense sides, Judge Tatiana Vasilyevna Bezruk decided to extend the measure of restraint for two months, until August 11, but at the same time replace the round-the-clock arrest with a night arrest. Thus, from now on, Vladyka Arseny is obliged to be in a place of house arrest from 22:00 to 6:00, and is free to move the rest of the day.

The court's decision came into force on the day of its adoption.

The next session of the Chechelovsky Court in the case of Vladyka Arseny is scheduled to take place on June 30.
