The V Scientific and Practical conference "The Value of Everyone" was held at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation in Moscow on April 14-15, 2025. Archpriest Mikhail Potokin, Acting Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, sent a video greeting to the participants of the event.
The conference was attended by experts, NGO representatives and social workers. During the event, issues of the life of people with mental (mental) disorders were discussed, taking into account their needs, strengths and weaknesses.
"We need to understand and accept that all people have different opportunities, different abilities, and each of them is infinitely precious,— Archpriest Mikhail Potokin said in a video message. — The very fact that a person was born indicates that the Lord took part in his life. Yes, a person may not be like everyone else. But if we treat him with love, it means a lot not only to him, but also to ourselves."
The Value of Everyone Conference brings together government and public organizations, charitable foundations, professional and parent communities, as well as all those interested in improving the system of providing social, rehabilitation, educational and other services for special children, adolescents and adults.
During the two days of the conference, issues of palliative, medical and social care for people with psychiatric diagnoses, issues of social employment and inclusion in culture and sports were also discussed.

Tatiana Skorobogatova also spoke at the plenary session, telling about her stay at the Mayak center in the city of Orsk, where she came from the Gaysky boarding school for mentally retarded children. Today, Tatiana is engaged in various activities: conducts excursions for pilgrims, works in workshops and in the monastery kitchen. The Mayak Center is a home for assisted living and social adaptation for people with disabilities who graduated from boarding schools after the age of 18 or wanted to move from neuropsychiatric boarding schools. It was created with the support of the convent in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. At the Mayak Center, people with mental disabilities learn about everyday issues, financial literacy, and communication with others. They also work in the workshops of the monastery. Recently on the mirom platform.Funds were raised for the purchase of a baking oven in which the wards of the Mayak center will be able to bake bread.
Today, 12 assisted living houses and apartments operate in different regions of Russia in partnership with churches, dioceses and NGOs.
