On July 30, 2026, an interreligious round table on the theme "Unity of the peoples of Russia and followers of traditional religions" was held in the building of the regional public organization "Association of Mountain Jews" in Moscow.
The participants of the round table were representatives of Christian denominations, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist communities, as well as public and academic figures.
The DECR Secretary for Interreligious Relations and Executive Secretary of the Interreligious Council of Russia, Priest Ilia Kashitsyn, spoke at the forum from the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. He spoke about the Russian experience in building interreligious and interethnic relations, which is especially relevant today in the context of political, economic and military instability in the world. The speaker also recalled those passages of the Holy Scriptures that call people to dialogue, peace and responsibility before God.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
