A delegation of faithful of the Orthodox parishes of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia from the Republic of Indonesia and Malaysia made a pilgrimage visit to Russia from July 7 to 24, 2026. The participants of the trip had the opportunity to get acquainted with the rich spiritual and historical heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The delegation included 24 representatives of the Orthodox communities of Indonesia and Malaysia, including the clergy of the Singapore Diocese of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia.
During their stay in Russia, the pilgrims visited a number of key spiritual centers, according to the exarchate's website. Among them are the historical temples of Kolomna, the shrines of the Moscow Kremlin, the Donskoy Stavropol Monastery in Moscow, the Pokrovsky Stavropol Convent in Moscow and the Danilov Stavropol Monastery in Moscow, the Epiphany Cathedral in Elokhovo in Moscow, as well as the Patriarchal Compound of the Church of the Life—Giving Trinity in Ostankino in Moscow. The pilgrimage program also included visits to the Optina Pustyn Vvedensky Stavropol Monastery, the Kazan Ambrosievsky Stavropol Women's Desert, the Patriarchal Cathedral in Honor of the Resurrection of Christ, the main temple of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the 1418 Steps to Victory Museum, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, the Holy Trinity Serafimo—Diveevsky Convent and the art and production complex. On July 18, the pilgrims arrived at the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra to participate in the divine service on the occasion of the feast of the finding of the venerable relics of St. Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh. After the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met with members of a delegation led by Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia on the Cathedral Square of the monastery in the Patriarchal Chambers of the Lavra.
On July 19, believers from Indonesia and Malaysia took part in celebrations dedicated to the 755th anniversary of the Tver Diocese, on July 20-21 they visited St. Petersburg and joined celebrations in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and on July 22 they got acquainted with the historical shrines of Uglich.
The pilgrimage program ended on July 24 with a return to Jakarta.
