The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission held an annual charity event dedicated to the Day of Knowledge. Thanks to the support of donors, 920 sets of office supplies, including everything necessary for studying, were purchased and assembled on the "Let's Help" platform.
Sets for schoolchildren weighing more than 2 tons were delivered and handed over to children from large, single-parent families, orphans and children with disabilities living in Mariupol, Donetsk, Lisichansk, Severodonetsk, Tokmak, Skadovsk, Gorlovka, Belgorod and Valuyki.
"Every year, the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission buys and hands over school supplies to children living in the conflict zone by the beginning of the school year. Children will go to school with new notebooks, pens, paints and everything they need," commented Elena Ivanova, head of the Social Assistance Department of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission. – This is important: as a tool for schoolchildren, convenient stationery makes children happy and increases their interest in learning. Such assistance gives families confidence that they will not be left without help in a difficult situation. Given that collecting children for school is financially costly, parents have the opportunity to redirect money to proper nutrition, clothing, housing and communal services and basic necessities."
Depending on the age of the students, the sets are divided into two categories: for elementary school students and for high school students. Each set includes notebooks, writing supplies, stationery for labor and drawing lessons, as well as rulers and sharpeners — everything a child may need in the new school year.
"Little Dasha lives in a border village. It's disturbing and dangerous here. But on September 1, a new school year will begin for her, too. And it's so great that this girl and other children have gifts from our dear helpers, volunteers, friends and benefactors," said Irina Lyufanova, coordinator of the Valuiki Relief Center. – Office kits were purchased with donations from ordinary people from all over the country. Drivers bravely deliver goods along a difficult route. From small drops of goodness, one big childish joy has gathered."
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission was established by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church with the aim of coordinating and systematically developing assistance to civilians in the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, as well as providing assistance to the wounded.
There are 12 Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission assistance centers in the border areas, Moscow and the conflict zone, where over 417,000 requests have been processed. More than 4,400 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the victims. More than 8,100 volunteers participated in helping the victims. As part of the project to restore private housing for those in need in the conflict zone, 846 private homes have been restored. Volunteer priests travel in shifts to 45 hospitals in the conflict zone. Together with the Synodal Department for Charity, a service is working to help veterans of the SVR and their loved ones.
