On June 26, 2026, employees of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission visited the Borchanskoye rural settlement in the Belgorod region, where they met with the head of the administration and local residents.
Borchanskoye rural settlement is a territory within the Valuysky Urban District of the Belgorod Region with its administrative center in the village of Borki. The settlement is located in the immediate vicinity of the state border of the Russian Federation — about three kilometers. Residents of villages in the Belgorod region along the line of contact are regularly shelled and forced to live without electricity and communications most of the time.
Irina Lyufanova, Coordinator of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission, met with Tatiana Ryabikina, head of the settlement administration. Hieromonk Andrey (Sumin), a cleric of the Valuisk diocese, took part in the meeting.
During the conversation, the actual requests of the villagers were discussed. Among the most urgent needs are medicines for the critically ill with low income, walkie—talkies for the elderly who cannot purchase them on their own, as well as fire extinguishers, which are necessary due to regular drone attacks.
Generators were transferred to two families. A large family with eight children, as well as a family with a husband and wife with disabilities, received assistance. Tatiana Ryabikina voiced additional requests for generators from others in need.
"We have taken on current tasks and will try to provide the necessary assistance to people living in these border areas in the near future," comments Irina Lyufanova.
At the moment, the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission, together with the Valui Diocese, is preparing to open a new center for assistance to injured civilians. The first shift of volunteers has already successfully worked in the Valuysky district, new volunteers are expected to arrive to continue targeted assistance to the affected residents of the region.
