The Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Losevo, Kimry Municipal District, on July 28. Since 1920, the Holy Martyr Nikolai Morkovin, the great-grandfather of the dean of the Kimry church district, Archpriest Evgeny Morkovin, carried out his pastoral ministry here. 
The divine service was performed by Archpriest Vladimir Kirillov, rector of the church in honor of the Prophet John the Baptist in Kimry, and Priest Sergiy Fufaev, Deputy chairman of the Synodal Missionary Department for Apologetic Mission, a relative of the Holy Martyr Nikolai Morkovin.
The youth choir of the Kimry Deanery, led by F.V. Kirillov, and participants in a youth rafting trip along the Medveditsa River dedicated to the new martyrs of the Kimry land sang during the Liturgy.
After the service, the congregation went to the village of Ilgoshi, where they held a prayer service at the church in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. From here, the youth rafting on the Medveditsa River began.
Hieromartyr Nikolai Petrovich Morkovin was born in 1889 in the village of Ilgoshi, Kashinsky district, Tver province, into the family of a psalmist. He graduated from the Tver Theological Seminary and got married, and the family had six children. In 1913, Nikolai Petrovich was ordained a priest. At first he served in the village of Petrovsky, Kimry district, then in the village of Losevo, Goritsky district. In 1929, my father and his wife were arrested on charges of refusing to "perform ... national tasks" (they could not pay excessive taxes) and resisting government officials (they refused to give things intended for children). They were sent into exile in the Vologda region — Father Nikolai for 5 years, mother for 2 years.
In 1933, Father Nicholas returned and was sent to the Ascension Church in the village of Voznesenye, Kashinsky district. On February 16, 1938, he was arrested and imprisoned in Kashin. The priest was accused of conducting counter-revolutionary agitation among the collective farmers, which consisted in conducting religious classes with believing women and refusing to subscribe to a state loan. Priest Nikolai Morkovin was sentenced to death by firing squad. He was executed on February 28, 1938 and buried in an obscure common grave.
He was canonized as a saint of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in August 2000 at the Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
