Bishop Sergiy of Borisoglebsky and Buturlinovsky, together with representatives of the Borisoglebsky diocese, traveled to the Donetsk People's Republic from June 8 to 11, 2026.
On the first day of his stay in Donetsk, Vladyka Sergiy visited the burn center of the V.K. Gusak Institute of Emergency and Reconstructive Surgery, where volunteers from the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission work.
Meeting with the servicemen undergoing treatment at the department, he expressed words of support to them, wished them a speedy and full recovery, and prayed for their health. Bishop Sergiy handed over supplies for patient care to the medical institution, including bandages and disposable items. In addition to medical supplies, food packages were donated by parishioners of the churches of the Borisoglebsk diocese.
The bishop also met with volunteers from the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission, who help medical staff and accompany patients. The volunteers spoke about the current needs of the hospital and the work of the Mission on the ground.
The Borisoglebsk Diocese systematically supports the ministry in the conflict zone. Clergymen regularly travel to confess and receive communion from the wounded, provide pastoral and spiritual support, and help restore peace of mind to the injured.
The volunteers of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission have been working in three medical institutions in Donetsk since 2023. During this time, more than 900 people came to Donetsk from all over the country to help wounded soldiers and injured civilians undergoing treatment in local hospitals and hospitals. Also, with the assistance of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, more than 400 volunteer priests from different regions of the country traveled in shifts for pastoral ministry in 15 hospitals of the DPR.
