On July 15, 2026, fishing competitions were held on the shore of Pleshcheyev Lake between pupils of the Sunday schools of the Sorokosvyatsky and Simeonovsky churches in the city of Pereslavl.
The tournament was organized by Archpriest John Gerasimov, rector of the Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste.
In the morning, the participants gathered on the shore, got acquainted with the rules and took their places. The duration of the competition was three hours. During the tournament, young fishermen had to demonstrate not only patience and fishing skills, but also knowledge of the local fauna: the organizers included questions about the fish living in Pleshcheyev Lake in advance in the program.
Based on the results of weighing the catches, the jury determined the winners. Katya Molotok took the third place with a score of 400 grams. The second place went to Daniil Lazarev, whose catch was just over 400 grams. The winner was Sergey Molotok, who caught a fish with a total weight of more than 700 grams.
After summing up the results, the organizers held a tea party, which turned into an intellectual part.
The event, which combined active recreation and intellectual competition, became a festive event for children.
