An employee of the diocesan department for cooperation with the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, Priest Alexy Matveev, consecrated icons and the banner of the OMON "Hammer" of the Department of the Russian Guard in the Tula region.
Priest Alexy Matveev performed a prayer service in the chapel of St. George the Great Martyr, located on the territory of the Molot riot police Department of the Russian Guard in the Tula region.
At the prayer service, the personnel of the mobile special forces unit prayed for their colleagues who were on combat missions.
Then, an employee of the diocesan department for cooperation with the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, Priest Alexy Matveev, consecrated the icons and banner with which the soldiers of the detachment were on a business trip.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
