A new book by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill titled "Heavenly Queen and Her Protection over Russia" has been released by the Moscow Patriarchate publishing house.
This work is dedicated to the veneration of the Most Holy Mother of God in Russia and Her miraculous icons. The book explores the role of the Mother of God in key periods of Russian history, such as the Mongol-Tatar invasion, the Time of Troubles at the end of the 16th - beginning of the 17th century, the Patriotic War of 1812, and the Great Patriotic War.
As noted by the publishers, the Patriarch's book is primarily addressed to those who doubt their faith. It includes narratives about various icons of the Mother of God, such as the Kazan Icon, the Vladimir Icon, the Donskaya Icon, the Iverskaya Icon, the Feodorovskaya Icon, and the image of "Derzhavnaya" (The Sovereign).
"In today's times, we especially need the help and intercession of the Virgin Mary, and we implore Her: 'Most Holy Mother of God, save us!' We do not address these words to any saint, even the greatest, for no saint can save us; only the grace of God can. But the Virgin Mary, who gave birth to our Lord Jesus Christ, has a direct relationship to your salvation. Therefore, with boldness, love, and hope, we appeal to Her every day of our lives," states the introduction to the book.
