During the restoration of the Church of the Introduction of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Valdai, experts discovered unique frescoes. This was announced by the head of the Valdai district, Yuri Stade.
"During the inspection of the facility, unique frescoes on the vaults were revealed," he wrote on his page on the social network. – We will restore it."
Now the work is going on under the thermal circuit of the church. The injection of the foundations has been completed, and workers are starting to repair the masonry. For this purpose, the old brick from disassembly will be partially used.
The restoration is planned to be completed in 2026.
The Vvedenskaya Church was built in Valdai in 1762. During the fires in 1854 and 1881, the fire destroyed the upper floor of the church, where the Church of the Ascension of the Lord was located, and the bell tower. The lower temple (Vvedensky) was not damaged. In the 1930s, the church was closed.
