The building that served as a school in the town of Sobinka for almost 80 years has now been returned to the faithful. Since 2019, restoration work has been carried out in it: the premises have been cleaned, heating and roofing have been restored, the altar and iconostasis have been equipped in the former gym, divine services have been resumed and a Sunday school has been opened.
The Resurrection Church, built in the 1880s at the expense of the Losev factory owners, was originally conceived as a recreational hall at the college. However, the building was soon rebuilt as a church, and a parish school and an orphanage were opened at it. In 1884, the church was consecrated, and in 1904, a side chapel was added to it in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy to All who Grieve."
In 1923, the church was closed. Over the years, the Palace of Labor, the club, and then the secondary school No.1. During the war, the building housed military hospitals. Since the 1990s, Sobinka believers have been seeking the return of the church, but only after the construction of a new school in 2019, the building was transferred to the Vladimir Diocese.
On May 7, Metropolitan Nikander of Vladimir and Suzdal consecrated a new dome with a cross, which was solemnly installed on the temple.
