A 2014 "Niva" all-terrain vehicle was transferred from the Saki deanery of the Simferopol and Crimean Diocese to one of the military units in the area of the military district.

The machine is in excellent technical condition and equipped with additional functions.

The SUV was taken to the SVO zone and handed over to the priests of the military department of the Crimean Archdiocese.

On behalf of the command and personnel, we convey our most sincere thanks to the Secretary of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese, the dean of the Saki church district, the rector of the church of the Prophet Elijah in Saki, Archpriest John Pristinsky, and all the priests and parishioners of the temples of the Saki deanery.

It should be recalled that with the blessing of the dean of the Saki church district, donations are regularly collected for military units in the area of their military training. Thanks to such general fees, dozens of off-road vehicles, generators, camouflage nets, linoleum, expensive equipment for field hospitals and much more have been transferred to the front.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
