With the blessing of Metropolitan Leonty of Voronezh and Liski, a three-day seminar on spiritual support for addicts was held at the Assumption Divnogorsky Monastery of the Voronezh Diocese. It was conducted by the head of the Coordination Center for Combating Drug Addiction of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, Bishop Methodius of Kamensk and Kamyshlovsky. The seminar was attended by the monks of the monastery. They discussed the nature and ways of correcting the passions within the framework of the theological tradition.
During the seminar, Bishop Methodius spoke about the system of combating passions, which was formed as a result of his many years of work to help those suffering from drug addiction and represents the second stage of the main period of church rehabilitation of drug addicts "To come to God." In this system, ascetic practice is the basis for overcoming not only drug addiction, but also any other passion.
The seminar was organized by the St. John of Kronstadt Charitable Foundation as part of the project "May your Light Shine before men" with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation.
