Parishioners of the Parish of the All-Merciful Savior in Hastings, England, made a pilgrimage to Folkestone to venerate the relics of St. Eanswitha.
This royal princess renounced marriage in order to devote herself to Christ in monastic life, and founded a monastery in Folkestone in the 7th century, which may have been the first convent in the country.
Her holy relics were hidden during the Reformation, but were rediscovered in the 1880s. They were recently placed in a new shrine, and pilgrims once again had the opportunity to worship this great local saint.
During the pilgrimage, a memorial service was held for all the deceased, followed by a welcoming speech and a short story about the monk, followed by a prayer service before her venerable relics.
