A Church shelter for pregnant women and those with children facing crisis situations has been inaugurated in the Yaransk Diocese in the town of Kiknur. The new crisis center aims to provide women not only with accommodation but also with meals, clothing, free legal, psychological, and social assistance, as reported by the diocese's website.

Bishop Paisiy of Yaransk and Luzsky consecrated the shelter building on November 26. In his sermon after the Divine Liturgy at the Annunciation Church in Kiknur, Bishop Paisiy remarked, "Today, we consecrate the first 'House for Moms' in the Kirov region. Pregnant women and women with children in difficult distressing situations, with nowhere else to go, will receive help in this house. If the new center helps save at least one child's life, we can consider that we have achieved our goal."

The "House for Moms" can accommodate up to 16 pregnant women and women with children simultaneously. The facility includes eight living rooms, offices for psychologists, lawyers, medical and social workers, as well as playrooms for children. Additionally, the "House for Moms" is equipped with classrooms for the residents to undergo educational courses and acquire skills. The creators of the shelter drew inspiration from the experience of the Moscow-based "House for Moms" run by the Orthodox charity service "Mercy."

Construction of the crisis center began in Kiknur in 2018, initiated by the head of the social department of the Yaransk Diocese and the rector of the Annunciation Church in Kiknur, Father Mikhail Kryukov. Support for the construction came from the Synodal Department for Charity and benefactors, with backing from the International Grant Competition "Orthodox Initiative." The shelter in Kiknur is the eighty-third of its kind in Russia, according to the Synodal Department for Charity.
