Abbot Filaret (Pryashnikov) of the Staroladozhsky Nikolsky Monastery, with the participation of Hieromonk Pavel (Khomko) and Monk Varlaam (Burlakov), consecrated the premises of the Symphony of the North motor ship on June 13 at the request of Captain Vadim Vasiev and cruise leader Igor Volkov.
Father Filaret addressed the audience with pastoral guidance, donated the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of sailors, and awarded the ship's captain and crew with the monastery's commemorative medal "St. Nicholas the Wonderworker."
"This is a sign of gratitude for the popularization of the historical heritage, which is carefully preserved in the monuments of Staraya Ladoga. Hundreds of thousands of people visit our ancient village every year, and a good half come to us along the river on multi-deck motorboats," Father Filaret noted.
Every tourist season, the monastery fraternity receives requests for the consecration of ships coming to Staraya Ladoga.
