On August 21, 2026, an inter-diocesan round table "Practical fulfillment of monastic vows in modern conditions" was held at the Staritsky Assumption Monastery in the Tver region. The event was held with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in a face-to-face and remote format.
Before the work began, the hierarchs of the metropolitans of Tver and Smolensk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the concelebration of the participants of the round table.
Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashinsky opened the meeting. Abbot Damaskin (Leonov), rector of the Staritsky Assumption Monastery, read out the greetings of Metropolitan Theognost of Kashira, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism.
The participants discussed spiritual and practical issues of modern monastic life: the fulfillment of vows of obedience and non-covetousness, the role of a spiritual mentor, overcoming information and other addictions, as well as preserving the monastic tradition in the 21st century. The discussion was attended by bishops, hegumens and abbesses, monks and women of monasteries of several dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church.
