On the feast of the Origin (wear) of the Precious Trees of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord on August 14, 2026, Bishop Boris of Kostomuksha and Kemsky consecrated the chapel of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the cross of worship on the site of the church in the former Karelian village of Akonlahti, on the territory of the Kostomukshsky Nature Reserve.
The head of the Republic of Karelia, A.O. Parfenchikov, who initially supported the idea of erecting a chapel on the site of an ancient Karelian village, as part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the baptism of the Karelians, prayed during the divine service.
The chapel was built thanks to the joint efforts of the administration of the reserve and the Kostomuksha diocese with the assistance of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
As part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the baptism of the Karelians in the Kostomukshsky Nature Reserve, a chapel was consecrated on the site of the village of Akonlahti.
