From August 7 to August 10, 2026, at the Cosmos Selection Moscow Vnukovo Sport Hotel, the Russian Paralympic Committee, with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Russian Sports Foundation, held international powerlifting competitions among combat veterans with musculoskeletal injuries.
Representatives of 10 countries competed for the right to climb the winning podium: Russia, Armenia, Vietnam, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, India, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria and Ethiopia. The Russian team included veterans of the SVO, who took 1-5 places at the interregional stages of the Defenders of the Fatherland Cup, including the winners of the national championships. The foreign teams included combat veterans, members of national teams, participants in world championships, continents and World Games.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Mitrofan of Murmansk and Monchegorsk, Chairman of the Patriarchal Commission on Physical Culture and Sports, a member of the Patriarchal Commission, Priest Anatoly Lipatov, took part in the opening ceremony of the competition.
Athletes competed for awards in five weight categories. The tournament is aimed at developing powerlifting among combat veterans with disabilities, expanding international sports cooperation and popularizing adaptive sports.
