The XII International Scientific Conference "The Gospel Text in Russian Literature" is being held at Petrozavodsk State University from June 1-3, 2026. The Forum, which gathers leading philologists and theologians every three years, is traditionally tied to the Easter cycle: its opening took place on the day of the Holy Spirit.
The conference, which dates back to 1993, celebrated its 33rd anniversary this year. It brought together researchers from Belarus, the USA, the Republic of Korea, India, Japan, as well as many Russian cities. The forum was attended by both recognized scientists and young researchers.
On June 2, Metropolitan Konstantin of Petrozavodsk and Karelia took part in the conference. Addressing the guests, the head of the Karelian Metropolia highly appreciated the courage of scientists who preserve the spiritual foundations of Russian culture. On behalf of the Petrozavodsk Diocese, the participants were also greeted by the head of the missionary department, Priest Viktor Zarovnyaev.
Well-known researchers made presentations at the plenary session.
The work of the forum continued with breakout sessions in the following areas: Russian Russian Russian Russian literature of the XI-XVIII centuries; Russian literature of the XIX century; Russian literature of the XX-XXI centuries; Russian literature of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries; Russian literature of Karelia.
The conference also featured a youth section called "Dostoevsky: Dialogue of Generations" and a round table discussion on "Prospects for studying the Christian Tradition in Russian Literature."
