In the Epiphany Cathedral of the Eagle, they remembered the murdered Bethlehem babies and modern victims of abortions. The event took place on January 11th. It was accompanied by a prayer service, after which caring residents of Oryol laid out a likeness of a human embryo from burning lamps in front of the temple.
According to the press service of the Orel Metropolitan Area, on this day the Russian Orthodox Church honors the memory of the 14,000 babies killed in Bethlehem. Traditionally, prayer services are also held for unborn children who are victims of abortions. After the service, a memorable event was held on the square in front of the temple: a figure of a human embryo was created from burning lamps. This action, called "Children's Laughter," was organized by the missionary department of the Orel Diocese, the Epiphany Cathedral and the NGO "Maternal Happiness."
"Today's action is not just a reminder of the tragedy of the Bethlehem babies or the problem of abortion," said Archpriest Vasily Ivanov, dean of churches in the Central District of the Orel Diocese, rector of the Epiphany Cathedral. — This is our common call to realize the fragility and sanctity of life, which begins at conception. After all, every human life is an invaluable gift from God... May the Lord strengthen us all in protecting the most defenseless."
It should be noted that such an action is being held in Orel for the second year in a row.
