On July 23, 2026, Bishop Herman of Sochi and Tuapse consecrated a mural depicting the Apostle Simon the Canaanite, the patron saint of the Black Sea coast, in the city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Territory. His Grace was assisted by the clergy of the Sochi Diocese.
The mural was created by Tver icon painters Sergey and Natalia Oleinikov on the wall of a 9-storey apartment building on Krasina Street. The initiator of the project is the First public Orthodox TV channel "Spas".
The service was attended by the head of the Tuapse district, S.A. Boyko, the general director of the TV channel "Spas", B.V. Korchevnikov, residents and guests of Tuapse, youth volunteers and members of the Orthodox movement "Enlightenment", military personnel of the military unit of the village. Novomikhailovsky. 
At the end of the service, Bishop Herman addressed the audience. The bishop reminded the audience of the life of the Apostle Simon the Canaanite and clarified why this disciple of Christ is considered the heavenly patron of these places. 
"The face of one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, the patron saint of the Northern Black Sea region, is not just a wall decoration, it is a visible reminder of the invisible spiritual world. May everyone, looking at this image, visible from afar, remember that faith, love and mercy should always be in our hearts, and the Holy Apostle Simon the Canaanite protects the city of military glory of Tuapse, strengthens the citizens in good deeds and reminds them of eternal values," concluded Bishop Herman. 
B.V. Korchevnikov congratulated the Tuapse residents on the consecration of the mural and said that even today we need preachers who are equal in persuasion to Simon the Canaanite. The general director of the Spas TV channel also noted that this project can safely be called a missionary project, as even local residents often do not know the heavenly patrons of their small homeland, and such street art allows them to interest and raise awareness of the population, to draw attention to the saint, which is of particular importance for a particular city.
S.A. Boyko called this day important for the spiritual life of the municipality and noted that such events help preserve traditional values.
Bishop Herman awarded B.V. Korchevnikov with the Medal of the Apostle Simon the Canaanite, II degree, for his hard work for the glory of the Church of Christ.
