On November 11, 2025, Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensk, the administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate, the first vicar of the Patriarch for Moscow, the governor of the Central Vicariate of the Moscow (city) Diocese, the vicar of the Novospassky Stavropol Monastery in Moscow, opened and consecrated a memorial plaque dedicated to Prince Alexei Borisovich Lobanov-Rostovsky, a Russian diplomat, ambassador, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia in 1895.
A memorial plaque has been unveiled in the Znamensky Church of the Novospassky Monastery, at the burial site of the prince. Unfortunately, the grave itself, as well as almost the entire necropolis of the Novospassky monastery, have been lost.
The participants of the commemorative event were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation D.E. Lyubinsky, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Director of the Institute of CIS Countries K.F. Zatulin, a direct descendant of Prince A.B. Lobanov-Rostovsky, Prince N.D. Lobanov-Rostovsky, a delegation from Bulgaria, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, political scientists, historians, public figures.
Before the unveiling of the memorial plaque, Metropolitan Gregory celebrated a requiem mass for Prince Alexei.
The bishop addressed the audience with a speech in which he noted the services of Prince A.B. Lobanov-Rostovsky to the Fatherland. Other participants of the commemorative event also spoke about the great importance of the Prince's diplomatic activity.
The guests could get acquainted with archival materials and paintings about the Prince's diplomatic activities as Russian ambassador to various countries, provided by Prince N.D. Lobanov-Rostovsky.
A memorial plaque dedicated to Prince Alexei Lobanov-Rostovsky was unveiled at the Novospassky Stavropol Monastery.
