Specialists of the municipal economy complex will additionally provide drinking water to churches and temples in Moscow on the eve of Epiphany, Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, told reporters.
"Traditionally, we will hold events to organize temporary water supply for churches and temple complexes that are not connected to the centralized water supply system. We carry out the work according to preliminary requests, and an individual solution is selected for each facility," Biryukov said.
The deputy mayor explained that temporary water supply will be organized in some parishes. For example, in the churches of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in Fili and the icon of the Mother of God "Softening of Evil Hearts" in the Konkovo area.
"Where it is impossible to extend temporary pipelines, we will provide water transportation by tanker trucks. This type of water supply is planned to be used, in particular, in the churches of St. Nina Equal-to-the-Apostles in Cheryomushki and the icon of the Mother of God "Unfading Color" in the Moscow city district," he added.
The head of the municipal economy complex stressed that on the night of January 19, rescue and fire brigades will be on duty near all temples, churches and monasteries.
"Additional measures have been taken to ensure the safety of Epiphany bathing, which this year will be held at 40 specially equipped sites," Biryukov said.
In Moscow, churches will additionally provide water on the eve of Epiphany.
