On October 25, 2024, the "Under the Light of Christ" congress for church photographers took place at the Ark Spiritual and Educational Center of St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk. Photographers from various Belarusian cities, as well as students from the Minsk Theological Seminary, attended the event. The congress was organized by the Missionary Department of the Novogrudok Diocese with support from the Synodal Information Department of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Missionary Department of the Minsk Diocese, and St. Elisabeth Convent.
The congress opened with a photo exhibition showcasing the work of 16 photographers, capturing significant moments of the sacraments of Baptism and Marriage, along with other facets of church life. Located on the center's third floor, the exhibition is open to the public.
Father Nikolai Savitsky, head of the Missionary Department of the Novogrudok Diocese, inaugurated the event, followed by a welcoming address by Father Artemy Klimiuk from the Synodal Information Department. Participants attended a lecture on family values by Elizaveta Momot of the "Pokrov" Family Support Foundation and took part in a workshop on church photography led by Minsk photographer Elena Beinar, held in the convent’s churches.
Special focus was given to supporting children with special needs. With help from the Brotherhood of St. John the Theologian of the Holy Spirit Cathedral and the "Doctor Nose" hospital clown organization, photographers and volunteers arranged a celebration for residents of a children's home for those with special developmental needs.
