After the Divine Liturgy at the historic Imperial Cathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul in the Peter and Paul Fortress, on July 12, 2026, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia arrived at the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visited the Nikolsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, where he celebrated a requiem mass at the grave of his spiritual mentor, the Ever-memorable Metropolitan Nicodemus (Rotov, 1929-1978). 
His Holiness also offered funeral prayers at the graves of the ruling bishops of the St. Petersburg diocese and at the burial site of the ever-memorable Archbishop Mikhail (Mudyugin; 1912-2000), Bishop Markell (Vetrov; 1952-2019), Archpriest Nikolai Gundyaev (1940-2021), His Holiness' elder brother.  

A wreath from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill was placed at the grave of Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov). Russian grave service was completed and the Primate of the Russian Church laid flowers on the grave of Metropolitan Nicodemus. 
From the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill went to the Bolsheokhtinskoye Cemetery in St. Petersburg, where he celebrated a litiya at the burial site of his pious parents, Archpriests Mikhail and Raisa Vladimirovna Gundyaev, and laid flowers at their graves.
