A special presentation of the 100th postal project dedicated to the Orthodox architectural monuments of Belarus took place in Minsk. The project, titled "Architecture of Belarus: Orthodox Churches", includes a commemorative stamp block featuring two stamps: one of the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Gomel and the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Muravanka.
This initiative, jointly organized by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Orthodox Church, and Belpochta, aims to highlight the country’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Each stamp was printed in a run of 35,000 copies, and the block itself in 10,000 copies.
The ceremonial event took place at the Minsk Diocesan Administration, where Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslavl and Minister of Communications Konstantin Shulgan officially canceled the stamps on the "First Day" cover. In their speeches, they emphasized the significance of preserving cultural and spiritual heritage through such projects.
Simultaneous ceremonies also took place in Gomel and Muravanka, with local clergy and authorities participating in the stamp cancellation events.
Since 1992, the Ministry of Communications and Informatization, in collaboration with the Belarusian Orthodox Church, has released over 100 postal projects dedicated to Orthodoxy. The first issue honored the Cross of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk. To date, nearly 1,600 artistic stamps have been issued, with 100 of them dedicated to Orthodox relics, churches, and icons.
