On June 15, 2026, the Pushkin Magadan Regional Library hosted a meeting that brought together representatives of the government, the public, the clergy and, above all, relatives of participants in a special military operation.
The main event of the meeting was the launch of the "Live and Believe" project.
The project is aimed at the spiritual and psychological rehabilitation of the families of ITS participants through the creation of a pilgrimage route through the temples of the Magadan diocese and acquaintance with Orthodox traditions.
During the meeting, the results of the work of the regional committee of families of soldiers of the Fatherland were summed up, and awards were presented — medals "Mother of the Defender of the Fatherland", which marked the feat of mothers who raised worthy sons of Russia.
The meeting ended with a performance by the Kolyma Cossack Choir.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
